The world we live in with global automotive forums it sometimes feels like we’re all part of the same community, but it’s always amazing to see how much the people you’re chatting to online are actually paying for their cars.
Ever sat there and wondered what’s the most expensive country to buy a prestige car is? What about the cheapest?
For this study, I chose the latest and greatest offering from Stuttgart, the Porsche 997 GT2. A big reason for this is that those Germans are so good at organisation that every one of their websites are basically identical and good for reference.
The 996 GT2 was a sensational machine, it’s hard to fathom how much better it can get, but from all reports it’s significant!
Well, enough jibber-jabber, here’s the stats:
(All prices are in AUD {Australian Dollar} based on current exchange rates. 997 GT2 Prices sourced from porsche.com, exchange rates sourced from xe.com)

Can anyone confirm the Danish price? I searched several resources to find the currencies etc but couldn’t find a better number.

The Danish price is correct! For track use the car is “only” 1.2M DKr, taxed and registered it is 4.2M DKr, so almost 3M DKr (600.000 AUD) in taxes alone.
Many Danes register their super cars in neighbouring Sweden to avoid the taxes, and many Swedes buy brand new cars and export them from Denmark as the ex tax price is lower in Denmark than the ex-tax prices in Sweden. 25% VAT only is added when registering in Sweden.

Thanks AntX!!
I’ve been researching and yes indeed, it appears the Danes get a 180% tax to put a registration plate on their car! OMFG.
