Discussion in the hoons and speed camera forums.
YOUNG men commonly feel speeding is okay, but only if they are the one driving, a road safety expert says.
Soames Job, director of the New South Wales Centre for Road Safety, told a Sydney audience the finding was revealed in new research examining the attitudes of NSW drivers towards speeding.
Speaking at the Road Safety Research, Policing and Education Conference, Mr Job said speed was by far the biggest single behavioural factor in serious crashes on the state’s roads.

Discussion in the trackday forums.
By Shane Seczkowski from Flamestone.com.
Another fine day had by all. Ok, well most anyway… the Viper sprang a minor oil leak after my first session in it, an Aston Martin’s clutch let go, and the day ended with someone putting a car into a wall… so it probably could have been a little better from some perpectives!
Please check the thread in the Australian Ferrari discussion forums for the latest information or if you have some info, thanks.

Minister for Roads Michael Daley announced the new demerit point scheme would be introduced on 1 July 2009 to make the system fairer for motorists and our roads safer for the entire community.
Mr Daley said the RTA had worked in close conjunction with the NSW Police and the State Debt Recovery Office to introduce the new system as quickly as possible.
“When I announced the new system in March of this year, I asked the RTA to make the changes to the demerit point system their number one priority,” he said.
“I’m pleased to announce today that the new demerit point will be introduced on 1 July, two months ahead of schedule.

A BMW owner filled his convertible with lemons and parked it out the front of a Sylvania dealership from 5am this morning.
The car caused chaos on the Princes Highway as commuters slowed to a standstill to watch the spectacle.
Bryan Wiseman, of Sylvania, said his luxury purchase was plagued with mechanical and electrical faults from the time he bought it new, two years ago.

Couple shot in Lamborghini in Sydney’s Castle Cove
* Couple gunned down in exclusive suburb
* Both shot as they sat in Lamborghini
* Police fear reprisal attacksA MAN and a woman were gunned down outside a home in the exclusive Sydney north shore suburb of Castle Cove last night.
The couple were sitting in a Lamborghini outside the man’s house on Neerim Road when they were both shot by an unknown gunman shortly after 11.30pm.
The man was shot five times and sustained injuries to the upper part of his body, stomach and arm.
Superintendent Peter Yeomans said the gunman was waiting for his victims.
“I think it would be quite obvious from his injuries, on the upper part of his body, that the person tried to kill the male in the vehicle,” Supt Yeomans said.
He would not confirm if the shooting was bikie related, but he did say police had previously attended the Castle Cove home although he would not reveal how many times or why.
Both victims are under police guard in Royal North Shore hospital, he said.
The man needed surgery and is in a stable but serious condition, while the woman is recovering with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Supt Yeoman said he was “mindful of a reprisal attack”.

Another great day at Eastern Creek was had by all.
But not long after I got there I was asked to stand in for the official track photographer that couldn’t make it. So I was torn between camera and car… oh what a dilemma.
Anyways, the results are more “lifestyle” shots rather than the usual “just another car zooming past” stuff.

NSW Roads Minister Michael Daley unveils ‘fairer’ license demerit penalty system
The NSW Government has unveiled what it claims to be a fairer penalty system for speeding drivers, but says it will take about six months to implement.
Under the changes previously flagged by the government, anyone detected travelling up to 10km/h over the speed limit will lose one demerit point.
Anyone caught doing between 11km/h and 20km/h over the limit will lose three points, while those detected between 21km/h and 30 km/h will lose four demerits.
