Discussion in the Australian Porsche 911 forums.
Porsche is giving some fan service. The 911 Sport Classic, pictured above, is a look back to simpler times, featuring a straightforward drivetrain and high-quality execution. After three years of development by Porsche Exclusive, the automaker’s personalization wing, the Sport Classic coupe will debut next to the 2010 911 Turbo, GT3 RS and GT3 Cup race car at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

$28000
THIS IS THE ACTUAL PORSCHE 911 DRIVEN BY CHARACTER 14K IN THE MOVIE DEATH RACE. THE STUDIOS SPENT BETWEEN $250K – $300K ON EACH CAR BUILT FOR THE MOVIE TO ACCOMPLISH THE “PRISONER BUILT LOOK” THEY WERE LOOKING FOR. IT FEATURES FRONT MOUNTED PROP 50 CALIBER GUNS AND A ROCKET LAUNCHER AND WELL AS A REAR MOUNTED MISSILE LAUNCHER. THE BODY WAS WIDENED TO FIT THE EXTRA WIDE REAR WHEELS, FAUX ARMOR WAS APPLIED. THIS WAS ONE OF THE HERO / CLOSE UP CARS, NOT A STUNT CAR. IT WAS NOT DAMAGED DURING THE FILMING AND IT FEATURES ALL OF THE MOVIE SEEN COSMETICS INCLUDING THE WILD INTERIOR WITH GAUGES, SWITCHES AND WIRES ALL OVER THE PLACE.

The new Porsche 911 will cost almost 10 per cent more than its predecessor, thanks largely to the Federal Government’s luxury car tax hike. RICHARD BLACKBURN reports.
Porsche is gambling that new technology and more standard equipment will entice fans of its iconic 911 coupe to upgrade to a new model despite price increases of between $18,000 and $25,000.
