I don't know of any V12V owners on the forum, but I've heard the V12V and it is no noisier than many other sports cars running around here.  I'd say the bloke was unlucky or in the wrong place and the wrong time.

100% just unlucky.. My old neighbour has one as a daily never been pulled over. Drives it like he stole it.

I don't think I've ever spotted one in Sydney apart from one at Eastern Creek a few years back.

Mean looking Aston, love it!  :darkside:

I've got a V8 Vantage and its only loud when you floor it above 4k rpm so definately 100% unlucky with that cop. I've been told the V12 is no louder than the V8 as well and the loudest of all is the earlier 4.3 V8's....

I know somebody who was done for noise by the EPA in his 430 Hairdresser spec. He was really pissed as he had to go and get it tested which was a PITA. His car was bog standard, as delivered, and fully ADR compliant.

Sometimes you're just in the wrong place at the wrong time as MHH said.

Louder as per decibels maybe not, but the V12 has a wail to it which is probably more likely to raise ire than the hearty throb of the V8.

I had a 4.3 V8 and it was louder than a 4.7. But the V12 is considerably louder than either. The V12 has more of a wail rather than a V8 growl.

Shame no-one on here has a V12 - I was told that the first one shipped here was the one that the cops stopped and therefore forced AML to re-engineer the entire Australian production of V12s to be quieter.

That's the one from the previous page.

A member on here, Zisis, has (had?) a white V12V here in Victoria.  It's pretty loud, but agree with other comments that it's not louder than many other exotics (and much quieter than a certain balck Diablo VT Roadster).

Does anyone on here with a V12 Vantage have any experience of having a new exhaust fitted to reduce the noise from the exhaust to allow the car to pass ADRs??

Specifically - I have been told that the first owner of a V12V in Australia was stopped by the police here and given an enforcement notice to make the exhaust quieter. The owner then handed the car back to Aston Martin and told them to fix it.

I have a V12V in London and I'll be importing it to Australia so if I need a new or modified exhaust I'll get that done in the UK at my usual garage.

First ask RTA (or whatever they are called now). See what they say.

The cops can issue a defect notice for ANY car for whatever reason, even if it is actually 100% legal, so don't look too much into that.

The exhaust will only have to be modified if it is louder than 92db but only after being tested by EPA pits.

Simplest way to get around this is just unbolt the catalytic converters, put 2 large washers with steel wool between them and put it up stream of the cats.   Emissions, noise, power greatly reduced. It will then pass anything and with a lift will only take 2 minutes to install and take out.

You are importing it as a personal import so other than the car having to be RHD, there is nothing else you need to do to make the car compliant, you don't get a compliance plate with personal imports so you don't need to comply it. If the police give you hassle it will be because as MHH has said "wrong place wrong time".   Then that is when you do the steel wool trick. Unless there is a way to keep the exhaust valves closed?
You can say I'm wrong, but my garage doesn't agree with that statement!!!
