Great pick up!

I've read about them but not seen them.  I recall the BMW dealership I worked at in the '80's sold a couple of the standard 635i but the M is something special.  Were they ever sold new in Aus?

Its a bit of a puzzle, the M6 was the US spec car with the 256HP s38 motor which had less power than the euro version called the M635i which had the 286HP m88 motor. Neither were sold new in Aus

What does a cam gettin chopped out sound like,The car I'm getting, has a clicking sound, owner says just a noisy tappit... Took his word for it,says it's been like that for ages...

Wouldnt a cam be over with fairly quickly, one woulda thought...

vik...

I had a 3 series BMW that tapped for about two years before I was bothered to take the rocker cover off and adjust it. More than likely needs adjusting and the cam is fine.

They made 524 in RHD - Euro/UK Spec - 286bhp M635csi - cf US spec M6 only 256bhp due to smog regs.

There were supposedly 46 M635CSis targeted for the Au/NZ market - 2 were tourist deliveries to their Australian owners and 2 were brought in as test/media cars into Aus but the others (42) went to NZ due to difficulty gaining AU compliance.

The vehicle I ended up buying (finally leaving Melbourne by truck to Adelaide on Monday!!) was a NZ delivery but brought in by Brooklands Classic Cars a couple of years ago. It is one of the featured cars in this month's Australian Classic Car magazine.

Mark - not sure if you recall in the 2008 Classic Adelaide Rally - in Thoroughbred Tour - there was a metallic blue M635csi with Fielder's roofing stickers all over it - driver was Andrew Box. I was following that car for a large part of the event and essentially got bitten by the bug and have been looking for a good one since!  :D

Hi Alvin,

one of my customers (in the government sector) has a concourse one of these.

he is not on the forum.

I discretely ask if he would like to be introduced and PM you

Thanks Dean.

Together with another local 635CSi owner here in Adelaide, we are trying to organize Sharkfest III here in SA. Hopefully will get a contingent of E24 drivers from NSW and Vic  (on the E24 forum) here for 4-5 days driving SA roads - hopefully using some of the old Classic Adelaide Rally stage roads and throwing in some touring and socializing - aiming for Oct/Nov 2011 at this early stage of planning! Your friend may be interested?

Vik351 - PM me if u r interested too so as I can keep u posted.

Trick with eletric sunroof...???

My son drove the car home from pickup (I was in hossie) and when he went to close the electric sun roof,he didnt know about the two stage switch, Instead of re pushing the the switch,he tried to push it up by hand, now it is stuck with the back down...

The motor still works and the sunroof grunts and groans when ya push the button either way...

Tried the boot trick but it wont budge...
