Using a VIN decoder, a Bimmertoday member found out the upcoming M2 will indeed have 370 PS (272 kW).
He inserted the VIN of a pre-production model at www.bimmer.work
and discovered the car had an updated version of the N55 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo engine developing 370 PS (272 kW). The car in question was manufactured on September 18 and came with a Long Beach blue launch color, 19-inch double spoke style 437 M wheels and a six-speed manual gearbox.
We already know the M2 will be offered with an optional 7-speed DCT and there's going to be an M Driverís Package which will bump the top speed limiter from 155 mph (250 km/h) to 171 mph (275 km/h). Serving as a spiritual successor to the 1-Series M Coupe, BMW's first ever M2 is expected to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) task in less than four and a half seconds.
There's no word about the torque figure just yet, but previous reports have indicated the motor will generate 465 Nm (500 Nm with overboost) which should be plenty of punch for the high-performance coupe.
Word around the Internet says the BMW M2 Coupe will be revealed online on Wednesday and it will go on sale by the year's end at a starting price in Germany believed to stand at around Ä54,000.
