Have you gone through some of the overseas BMW forums? Seems to me that the issue was caused by a failure (not by the driver or it was caused by the driver but it shouldn't have happened), looks like they have found a fault either during manufacturing which for some reason only showed up now or it is not the first problem of this nature they have seen on your model.

My money is on the guess that you are not alone and there would be others out there who have had the same problem.    LOL @ circles in a Diesel X5
You can say I'm wrong, but my garage doesn't agree with that statement!!!

Sounds like great news to me... I cant even imagine what that would cost if you were paying for it. Very best outcome you could hope for.
Yes indeed...The service advisor said it would be around 5-6k but then said as a gesture of goodwill they will replace it...so its all good

Thats exactly right...the service advisor said it could be from going off road, applying pressure on the car etc. But like you said it should not have happened at all...He did say they just failed...

LOL correction *Diesel TWIN TURBO X5*  :D

Well sorry MR Laadeedaaa

I am starting to understand the point of diesel cars now since now owning one. I am liberated from spending hours a week at a petrol station when i'm driving the diesel lol.

However when I jump back into the diesel after driving a petrol for a while, I sometimes over rev it since they loose power at such a low rev range, aND in the petrol I shift too early sometimes. Gets annoying on a freeway on ramp lol
