Pete, its like this.......if you date a supermodel, then dating another supermodel is just "ordinary" in the context of what you have been used to but in the context of what I'm used to, it would be worth me upgrading. Now, has that cleared it up?

Anyone have a spare supermodel I could try to see if it is worth it? :D

Because ordinary to you is ultimate to me. I have only seen 4 or 5 CSLs that have upgraded brakes and they are serious about track racing, I am not.

A full CSL kit cost $1600 to my door front and rear rotors, carriers, pads & sensors from America. Dealer here want $6500. If I didn't know about the International supplier, I would go with a Brembo/AP kit for not that much more that the Aus dealer price.

the guy who i know who did it was no "track junkie"

he took it to the track once ...phillip island, of all places...and replaced them as soon after as possible.

They are plenty good enough for the street, its a bit like the argument about the M5 brakes. To me they are fine, to others they are not.

Anyway I Installed the brakes last night, took about 4 hours. They look great! I noticed that the pads I took out were already the CSL/CS compound so will have to do some investigation on realoem to see if Australian spec cars were delivered with this compound.

Is the CSL compound meant for road or track use? If the latter, won't it be really noisy during normal road use? I tried to leave the Pagid pads on the M5 for normal driving but after a few days the squealling became so unbearable and embarassing, I had to swap back to the stock M5 pads.

Not sure mate, they never have squealed on me before. They make more of a tearing grinding noise if anything.

I will try to find out what they are classed as in an hour.

Ok well BMW use Pagid/Textar as OEM, they are can tell me what they are rated as though.
