that's funny. the one person i know who had a CSL thought the brakes were crap and put on an AP kit.

and that's what you're UPGRADING  to??

Odd? Different strokes for different blokes.

Just from reading the forums, it seems to be a few people that swap them for aftermarket and the consensus seems to be
1. track junkies that do it for the weight reduction as ap/brembo etc are all about 30kg lighter overall
2. aesthetic modders who like the look of monoblocks
3. or others wanting a greater choice of pads

Im sticking with the stockers because the single piston brake more than adequate for me, I just wanted a diameter increase on the front because I didn't like the rear brakes being bigger in diameter.

The term "crap" is difficult to measure. I think that any upgrade would be worthwile over standard.

I'd imagine the CSL brakes would be a more cost efficient upgrade to make to a street car. than the aftermarket brakes mentioned.

Because ordinary to you is ultimate to me. I have only seen 4 or 5 CSLs that have upgraded brakes and they are serious about track racing, I am not.

A full CSL kit cost $1600 to my door front and rear rotors, carriers, pads & sensors from America. Dealer here want $6500. If I didn't know about the International supplier, I would go with a Brembo/AP kit for not that much more that the Aus dealer price.

Pete, its like this.......if you date a supermodel, then dating another supermodel is just "ordinary" in the context of what you have been used to but in the context of what I'm used to, it would be worth me upgrading. Now, has that cleared it up?

Anyone have a spare supermodel I could try to see if it is worth it?

When the bigger diameter rears than fronts on the M3 came out, I queeried that with BMW engineers.. They specifically did that to match the chassis design tuning and general dynamics of the car.
