Mate of mine is moving down into London in the next few months and has just ditched his Clio 197 Cup in favour of a E36 318iS...
Now he's hounding me into getting one aswell and is expecting me to become oversteer master by the time he moves... I'm very tempted to get one (prices are starting at around £700) when I get back from Aus in mid Jan but something tells me I'll never be able to keep up with him... Especially as he used to hold a Ring lap record...

I've had the most fun in snow/ice in my Golf GTi Mk2.

rear drive/oversteer means the only way out of a slide is to LIFT, and slow down

With front drive, you can have just as much oversteer with judicious use of handbrake/left foot brake/wheel flick, but accelerate your way out of the slide.

I once did a PERFECT scandinavian flick and full opposite lock slide ALL THE WAY around a very large roundabout in snow....

it was one of those " " moments you never forget.

It was so good, I even thought about going back to do it again.... but I knew sods law would come in to play....

I say get your mates Clio cup car, then PASS the bugger while he's tank slapping and wheel spinning his way getting no-where.

I know those never forget moments! I had 3 in the space of a lap in a CSL in Monaco last year... Sideways into Casino Square, sideways around the hairpins and then chasing a 430spyder through the tunnel... I got more attention than it did!

Wont be in snowy weather... Mainly rain/damp/cold...
No can do with the Clio. He's already gotten rid of it. Even if I had it, he would still be passing me. One of the best drivers I've ever seen... Set a lap record on the Ring back in 03 in a Radical at 7.19... Absolute nutter!

It wasn't. 
I was just in Monaco with a CSL and the 430 pulled out infront of me as we were entering the tunnel...

lol... i walked the 'track' when i was there a couple of years ago. saw a 456gt and a db9 racing through the tunnel...  they must get it a lot...
