For the ignorant among us, and surely I fit in there ;) ....

what is CS?

I know what a CSL is...

is there a "base" M3, a CS and a CSL???

Car looks great, buying off a detailer surely must be the way to do it if you like shiny!

CS was the competition package offered on the last of the E46 M3 models.

The rarity is - the colour - Interlagos Blue which was only released for the CS.

CS features:
- CS Wheels (almost same as CSL wheels)
- CSL Brakes
- CSL Steering rack
- CSL M Track mode
- CSL Alcantara steering wheel/gear shift/hand brake
- Special milled interior trim
- Spring rates (sits slightly lower than a normal M3)
- Exhaust is slightly different
- Cruise Control deleted (I think)

FF - Thanks for the compliment!

Yeah, a lot of people are not familiar with the Competition (labeled CS - UK Market ; ZCP - US Market)

JBO - Spot on! Thanks for that

CS was only released at the end of the E46 run - 2005 & 2006

I've never known another car that sounds so awesome from inside, and yet such shite from outside...

The CSL ( and I've heard a few and worked on a couple) has fanatstic induction noise and even the exhaust sounds great from inside the car... but from outside... the induction is great... but OMFG... that shite tinny rattly silencer racket...

the annoying bit is that the drivers THINK they're giving off good noises so they drive it "loud" even more...

But to me, that tinny silencer racket is a massive turn off....

M500 - Yes the car has 82,900 on it now.

My 2006 one has 30,000km - that's the one that Allan has seen. This car is more or less identical.

Just as a matter of curiosity, why have two identical cars? To each their own of course, but you'd have to love a car to absolute bits to want two of them rather than enjoy some variety.
