I was thinking of getting a E46 323 or 325i.
They are going for high teens to low 20's.
What are your views on them? They seem to be great value for the price, anything to look out for?
Should I start a new thread? Avulcha, can you help?

E46 is a fantastic chassis. I especially like the Coupe version and over the years have had at least 7!

Only real issue with the E46 coupe is the rear subframe issue - reports of a few cracked ones although as with everything, IMO might be a little over-stated.

The 323/325i engines are the smaller straight 6 - not necessarily the quickest but so well balanced. Nothing wrong with the auto transmission versions though a manual is more fun. For high teens/low 20s - you should be able to find a good 330ci which is a much much better engine.

I've seen the subframe issue first hand on the M3 e46 and my wallet says it's not overstated, not sure about the lower models though.

That's a pretty sweet 6, I enjoyed mine until I wanted more power.  :D
