So, how many pistons do M series have in their brake calipers?

apparently, Clarkson thinks the M5 has better brakes than the Jag......

I thought they only had single pistons in front & rear up until recently but now have twin (I think) I know someone will correct me if I am wrong ;)

I think you're right about the single.....

when did they introduce the twin piston then?

I remember something about that and having a bit of a chuckle...but I don't recall what model it was, or if it was across the board or what.

I love my car. Buy your own

I didn't bother to click the link the first time cos I knew what it was gunna be about (having just watched the TG ep last night) - and, well, having seen it already yep I knew what it was about and am 100% correct.

Mentioning number of pistons and blah - waste of time here, move along - just trolling for nostalgia's sake.

Both great cars, neither of which are motorsport honeys however fantastic high performance road cars, so stupid endless blah about getting the nth bit of performance out of them is moot, end of story.

Perhaps...

but it is still a discussion point, on how good brakes can be REGARDLESS of how mnay pistons they have....

so many people are easily swayed by some facts that have no relevance to performance.

Like having 4 or 6 or 8 pistons in your brakes somehow makes them better?

Very true. Mention 6 or 8 piston calipers to most people & that's the ducks nuts but then tell them that an 05 M3 has single piston all round & watch them say "bull shit", nothing that stops & performs that well has single piston calipers
