should be interesting. i'm surprised that BMW have left that much untapped power in the engine. i wonder why they do that.

Oh yeah - several months ago I was in talks with Wayne to offer AE members discounts, but forgot to take it further: http://aussieexotics.com/forum/aussie-exotics-lounge/powerchip-t1609.0.html

Actual link is: http://www.powerchipgroup.com

They were asking for an M5 for chip development a while back: http://aussieexotics.com/forum/bmw-m-power/e60-m5-needed-in-melbourne-for-tuning-development-t1531.0.html

I think one of FF's customers supplied them with an M6.

well, if my experience with motec on the 355 is any indication, i'm surprised they can get any gains (worth paying for) from any modern naturally aspirated car.

i just don't see why BMW would purposely 'de-tune' their M5

The dyno chart I saw shows 451.6 HP, there was no torque shown on it. ??

Yeah - I saw the original M5 datasheet they had on file and it was using 1Neon's car but showed zero top-end power gain - in fact this all came about because of that and I asked the Powerchip boys why anyone would bother paying $2-3k when it showed no gain, of course there's a lot of other bits which are supposed to be improved throughout the range - but in the end it's the numbers which will sell it.  They then asked for an M5 to develop on and now we're seeing a huge gain.

Your BMW M5 E60 5.0 uses an ECU which has 'flash' memory. The flash EPROM inside the ECU is a hybrid and cannot be modified in the conventional chip tuning method. Powerchip can 'flash' program the EPROM device by interfacing with the computer's wiring connector plugs to reprogram the chip that contains the engine's fuel delivery, ignition timing and throttle response settings. The ECU will need to be removed from the vehicle and sent via overnight courier to Powerchip. We have full photo ECU removal instructions to assist you and we will contact you after the order is made to organise the shipping information and other details.

In standard form, the M5 E60 5.0 produces 373 kW and 520 Nm.

Powerchip has a range of chips to suit your car, which can increase it's power to 406 kW, and it's torque to 566 Nm.

The price of the Powerchip is AUD $1,990.00.

In standard form, the BMW M5 E60 5.0 produces 373 kW, however the addition of a PowerchipGold 98 will increase the power to 406 kW. In addition to the extra power, the torque is also increased. The M5 E60 5.0 produces 520 Nm standard, and this is increased to 566 Nm. This means more pulling power especially up hills.
