Simple answer........

BMW is now run by "bean counters" like every other car manufacturer............

Every last nut, bolt and screw is costed to the last deutschmark(sorry ...Euro now)

The rot really set in with Bangle as head designer IMHO!!!

couldn't agree more.......driving the OHOS's I collect you feel "alive" when on the road!

I worked for a BMW dealership in Melbourne when the 635 was a current model...a true drivers machine....smell of buffalo hide leather is still with me today!

haha on the rare occasion my significantly inferior half rides shotgun with me in my old 79' 400GT she complains bitterly yet it defecates over her flash new 911!

To this day, I still enjoy driving the e24 whenever I get a chance! Yes it's not as fast as a newer car but the interior cossets you and the buffalo hide just feels so right! The auto and m30 can struggle through the hills as it's a fairly heavy car but the m88/3 equipped version with 5 speed manual is just about perfect! Still draws a lot of attention whenever it's on the road!

Of the many I cars I have had over the years, this one is one of my all time favourites. Comfortable, great looking and with adequate performance...

this and the 3.0 are the nicest old timers for sure,

would love to have one in the stable some day.

new cars just dont cut it for me anymore, except if we're talking an interesting EV.
