Caparo T1 Cars sets up shop in Norfolk; sets sights on Australia and Hong Kong...

A new global concessionaire has been appointed for the amazing Caparo T1 in Norfolk.

Norfolk is a mythical county in England that can some people believe can be accessed by motor vehicle… er, I mean the Caparo T1 was conceived as the ultimate track day weapon, but is now available in four basic specifications: Track Day, Road T1, Race Extreme, and a road version of the Race Extreme. All share a home-grown 3.5 litre V8 in various states of tune, a carbon/aluminium honeycomb monocoque and a power to weight ratio of at least 1000bhp per tonne.

If that all sounds a bit too exciting, we recommend the basic version, which generates 'only' 575bhp – although that still makes it faster than a Le Mans prototype.

According to Matt, the new business location (a stone’s throw from Lotus in Hethel) is ideal as the company has easy access to various disused airfields where the T1 can run in full ‘race’ trim with open pipes without disturbing the locals and, of course, Snetterton Circuit is on the doorstep too.

As well as retailing and aftersales functions, the new company will take on some of the T1 assembly work, because Caparo Automotive – where the T1 was developed – is now busy with a contract to build the all-new 2010 Formula Renault category racers.

As well as three prototype vehicles, a dozen Caparo T1s have now been completed, of which 10 are in the hands of the final customer, says Matt. The company is also well advanced with setting up concessions in Australia and Hong Kong, and is geared up to selling (and building) a maximum of 10 cars per year.

They need to sort their shit out and fix the car properly before they release it in other markets.... The car is dangerously unsafe.
