Ducatis and MV's have had their tanks deformed when using ethanol based fuels, a well reported problem.  Not sure if other books have been affected.

Didn't I just say it causes problems unless the vehicle is designed for it? It does terrible things to all the traditional metals and hoses.

Ferraris are DEFINITELY not designed for it.

Can confirm that the 105 is ethanol based. Also ran it in my 500hp Commodore ute that was tuned to 98 and I thought I ruined the engine- misfiring, no power, difficult to start, terrible idle. I would stay away unless your car is tuned for it.

I'm actually surprised you tried it. Why did you do that?

Triumph have the same problem and my RSV4 had it's tank replaced due to the same thing but it never had Ethanol in the tank.

a car/motor bike has to be manufactured so that ethanol fuel can be used...otherwise there's terrible corrosion potential.

I've run it in cars designed for ethanol and it runs fine.

E10, that is, never used E85.

It is a great thing if you are tuned and had a few bits changed to handle it.

there is massive gains to be had on the stuff.

but it is a pain in the ass as it is difficult to get regularly, there is new flex sensors that pick up the percentage of ethanol in the fuel and adjust the map for it. when they tune the car for this they tune it at 100% 98octaine  / 80%98 - 20% e85 / 60-40 / 40-60 / 20-80 and then 100% e85
the maps then work out a seamless constant graph from there.

this is an interesting series on it once you get past the boofheads

That's the tech that pays for all the R&D at Koenigsegg ;)
