So who's going to fill the top cahoona spot.  Is there anyone in Oz that's got the classic comment repertoire like JC has ??

As much as it's a great idea, I think it's doomed to failure because it will never get out of the UK TG shadow.  An imitation show would just be embarrassing to watch, so it would have to be not even trying to be similar.  Look at 5th Gear, that's a dam good show, but with Top Gear around it comes off as kinda dull.

I'm trying to think of Aussie teevee personalities with some car credibility... :scratchchin:

I've seen some pretty funny stuff from Greg Murphy - and with his Porsche racing etc he's got credibility beyond just the boring V8 Supercars.

But other than that, no one springs to mind.

Wonder if they'll go cheesy and recruit a babe in a short skirt?

Well if channel 7 had the rights we'd be watching Daryl Summers

I think we all know it will suck.

The REASON Top Gear works so well is that there are no advertisers to anger by telling viewers cars are rubbish. The presenters can be entirely objective. Also - thanks to Harold Scrubby, we can't even have cars imagined as being driven quickly on ads, let alone hilighting 'tyre smoking tail sliding malarky' on a national TV show. SBS would be better to speed up their viewing schedule and start screening NEW episodes than wasting money on a show that will always be in the shadow of it's parent.
