Some usual suspects but the number one choice is a surprise - as is the fact that the new M3/M4 isn't there...

There seems to be universal love for the new Golf R!

I'm yet to drive one, but need to buy a new car in the next month and its hard to ignore all the praise!

I saw my first Mk 7 R today in a new bronze colour.  It looked great with its 4 pipe exhaust. I need one too. :)

havent driven a mk7R/mk3 s3, but they do have a slighty longer wheel base and are supposed to be more compliant over bumpy roads (something my s3 isn't)

I've never thought my car needed to be much quicker, for the type of car it is.

its such a shame they dont sell a 3 door R here though :(

because they dont want to cannibalise Scirocco sales.  But that only comes in FWD :(

talk about a major gap that needs filling.

Aussies won't buy 3 door 5 seaters.

My (well, my wifes now) Golf R32 is a 3dr, looks a lot better than the 5dr did. But, we tried selling it about a year ago and Marks comment above proved to be accurate. So we've kept it as our 2nd car rather than letting it go for a steal.

Across the last few years VW sold 7 different 3 door 4/5 seat models - the 3 door Golf R, 3 door GTI, Golf Cabrio, Eos, Scirocco, Up and Beetle.

None of them were very good sellers, and they've now stopped selling all of them except the Beetle here in Australia.  The next generation Scirocco is supposed to be coming back in 2015.

Interestingly Mark's comment is spot on for another reason - both 3 door VWs that will be on sale here in 2015 are 4 seaters not 5.
