This anonymous clan of slack-jawed troglodytes has cost me the election, and yet if I were to have them killed, I would be the one to go to jail. That's democracy for you. - C Montgomery Burns.

So the engine is the weakest link in a new M car?
Sad days indeed.
Before he even mentioned it I though it sounded like crap from the outside.
Inside the car was better but that's a manufactured engine note piped into the cabin and hardly convincing.

My thoughts too.  BMW M use to be really special against everything else for the money, now they just seem to be another runner.

Not too sure if he did his homework before his review....

The manual & DCT are the same cost & it has 3-4 "less" horsepower than the last model.

Homework?

4.0-litre V8 engine (S65B40) rated 420 PS (309 kW; 414 hp)@8300rpm and 400 Nm (295 lbft)@3900rpm
3.0-litre 6 engine (S55B30) rated 440 PS (317 kW; 431 hp) @5500-7300rpm and 550 Nm (370 lbft) @1850-5500rpm

I suggest we get screwed re manual, pricing for the base car has increased with the new F series, but includes DCT, manual is a n/c option that only benefits BMW, big time, because you have paid for the DCT already, which was a circa $8000 option in E90/92/93 cars.

My mistake. For some reason, I have always thought that the new engine was producing less HP than the previous model. It was always the rumour that it was down on power from the E90/92.

Some decent torque figures this time around

I cant stand the constantly sideways driving in these autocar videos.
As for the car, no idea, I never saw him drive it without driving it like a 200sx.
The paddles look a bit small and fiddly.

All these cars are fast enough for me, so if they released the V8 high revving engine as an option, id probably prefer it. Better noise.

I just cant believe its taken so long to arrive.
I can remember talking with Scott (I think?, Im not too good with names!) at the climb to the eagle 3 years ago in the Hahndorf fruit market carpark about how he had bought the last of the v8 m3's. That was 3 years ago and even then we knew the details of the new model. And yet its still not on the road!
