Hi guys,

I'm heading to Brisbane next month with the wife for her birthday (going to Hamilton Island afterwards).

Just wondering if there were any nice restaurants you could recommend for a birthday dinner? Esquire, Urbane and Aria are some that have come up with good reviews online.

Also, anything else that is a must do while in town (only ever been once and very briefly).

Cheers

There's nothing to do in Brisbane, it's a hole.

It hasn't changed then. Every single time I have been up there I have found the restaurants to be appallingly bad.

Then you have made shit choices.

Ecco is great. Urbane is fine dining, try the Euro for a more relaxed meal (same people). Malt dining is awesome. Longtime for Asian, can't book and had a great atmosphere. Blackbird Ian by goice for out of town people. Julius pizza in south bank is awesome as well. Tartufo in emporium is a beautiful retiring with great food. Plenty of other options.

Obviously I'm not a local; but I tried places that were recommended by locals on the Gold Coast/Noosa areas and as far north as Hamilton Island, Cairns and Port Douglas. They were all shite compared to even average restaurants in Melbourne. Haven't eaten out in Brisbane itself for a while.

The only really good dining experience that I have experienced was at Nautilus in Port Douglas.
