To be honest, I was very disappointed with the run ...
Couple of main reasons ...
Firstly meet up in Auburn ... shit at the best of times, no space and I hate driving in the inner west.
Second ... last minute change of venue with no notice from Sam's workshop ... which is a shit location to meet anyway, to an even shitter location at a McDonald's car park nearby ... seriously. A Lambo meet in McDonalds!!
Third ... totally disorganised ... spent an hour and a half hanging around said Car Park ... waiting for the run to start ... eventually I fired up my engine as a slight hint. If you're gonna leave at 9.30 ... then do so, not 10.30 ... if some people can't get out of bed in time and you're gonna make 100 people wait for 2 ... fuck that!
Fourth ... we proceeded to get a lecture about how to drive ... stay at 80kph ... single file ... down a 3 lane motorway ... blah blah blah. I'm an adult who is smart enough to earn the money to buy a Lambo, I don't need a lecture on how to drive ... and the only fun I was looking forward to being squashed in some bullshit briefing. A simple, "guys and girls, behave" is all that was needed to be said.
Fifth ... the bullshit surrounding the event ... police escorts, media and helicopters etc ... what a crock of shit I was told. I then promote that to raise awareness for the Club and you look like an idiot. So never again.
Sixth ... and the most criminal sin of all ... SHIT ROUTE!! After everything we were told ... they pic the worst route to get to the restaurant ... boring and non-involving and pretty much short and direct ... to then stand around for another few hours.
As for me ... we left with the convoy, and had a short play on the 10 min drive down the freeway ... we listened well ... and a group of us blocked all 3 lanes of the M4 at 80kph ... Marcel got some awesome pics.
We made a decision to go straight on up into the mountains and have lunch at the Hydro Majestic and drive back via all the country lanes in the North West. What an awesome lunch and drive. I think BenC got so jack of the crap, he just left and went and back home before the run started. It was the late departure and lecture that did it.
It's all a photographers dream ... and I'm sure Marcel had a blast ... but as an owner and driver of a Lamborghini, I thought it was shocking ... a major let down for an event I was very excited about.
For me the Lambo Club has turned into a promotion tool for El Presidente's supercar d' elegance business and a restaurant promo tool. I'm very disappointed that pretty much no "development" has happened with the Lambo club since the new president was elected.
This is not trying to take the love away for all those LCA fanboys ... this is my personal opinion and experience, and I know as a result of Sunday's run, several would-be members have changed their mind on joining the club.
Rant over .... I'm done with it ... I'll be sticking to drives and fun from Aussie Exotics and Petrolheads and other groups ...
P.S. Also ... why can't they organise a run of this scale months ahead ... instead of just over a week.
