All this talk of changing car bodies on other cars chassis has got me thinking....

one thing i cant get out of my mind is building a mid engined wagon.

the idea is to get a 3-series bmw wagon, remove the engine and put a new one (m3 engine maybe) where the back seats would normally be. combined with a porsche g50 transaxle....

would probably end up no better than a proper m3, but you never know. would just be cool to have a mid engined wagon sports car, a bit of a breadvan style...

I love the idea, that Espace F1 is so cool but it's so wierd hearing an F1 engine but seeing a Espace driving.

Yep similar to the espace. But someone that could be used as a daily driver. You would actually have the whole front end for boot space too.

The v6 mid engined renault clio is sort of like this
A bit smaller than a wagon but weird seeing a lump of metal / plastic covering an engine where you expect a seat to be

There's at least 1 in oz
It was for sale for ages

Job done.

Peugeot T16 too....

Lancia Delta S4.......

For giggles, a Volvo 740 Turbo wagon can be made to go VERY fast.....

I think he still has it! He's the owner of the only other BMW 2002 Turbo in Adelaide - a Polaris Silver one which has just had exterior restoration - has his own race teams racing in the Australian Formula Ford and Formula 3 championships!
