A friend is into the more classic cars (has an E type etc) and was debating whether to look out for an early 911 or a 308 money being the same.

I am not sure myself. Any opinions?

Interesting question.

years ago friend had both a 308GTB and a 930 3.0 turbo, he preferred the turbo both as a drive car and fun car,I drove both at the same time I liked the raw approach of the 3.0 turbo.

If it came down to groups or people he want's to spend time with.

The Ferrari people are fun and run good events in Victoria for the older cars.Porsche I don't know but suspect they have a strong early 911 register.

But finding the right mechanic to work on the car.

In today's world what would i buy ,the Porsche either a Carrera 3.0 or an early SC car ,there not fast cars but there built strong.

Porsche every day of the week.

and....are they the same money? I've heard some big numbers for 308s lately....more than a Porsche, unless it's a special one (not just old)

I love my car. Buy your own

you will pay 200k  plus for the equal of an early  308 in a Porsche.

As someone who owns a 308... Why so one-sided?

I just like them....always have.......they're good fun to drive, well made and cheapish to maintain/fix.

a 2.7 G series is not a special car  its the equal of an early 308 GTB. From memory over 1,500 were built....that a'int a special car in build numbers.

If you care to read the guys post he asks early Porsche or early Ferrari, a normal car person would read that as comparable cars from either marque ....not old shit heaps as you have referred to.
