Series 1 Elise would be a good one that is not over the top in price.

I expect the cars that have few driver aids may be at a premium in 20 years as all the cars then will be so wired that people will want a car that still has a steering wheel to do the Drive to the Eagle.

I agree with you there - I'm already thinking anything newer than about 2000 is too gizmo laden to offer enough grins. There is no argument that newer stuff is faster and safer, but lately I'm driving for fun, not sheep stations and it's been a long time since a traffic light grand prix was even mildly entertaining...

affordable collectable Porsches, that are any good, would be the 1988 930... 5 speed box, utterly tractable and usable, supremmemememly fast and sound great...

Agreed, those do meet the criteria I mentioned and are faster than a TVR, but not by much
In a choice between an F40 and a TVR id take the Ferrari in a heartbeat
F40 and F50 are already classics though, they were before one was even sold

A Cerbera does the 0-60 in 3.9, F40 3.8, F50 3.7
Im sure the Ferraris will wipe the floor in most other areas of performance, except for cost and comfort, the inside of a TVR is full of bizzarre leather and confusing knobs everywhere, and you can get one for under $80k
