Hi everyone, I'm nearly 16 and looking for a new car. I don't really want a crappy Japanese car and I'm not allowed to drive big V8's. I don't really have a big budget. Can anybody give their opinion or advice?

Thanks,
Marcus

Get something mid-engined - you'll never look back.

Probably a top of $5000, preferably manual, don't really mind what type of body or brand.

I'll try but I'm on a small budget. Maybe I can learn in a Lambo.  :D

Hyundai Getz (not really, only for pensioners excluding ferrarifixer). For 5k, I'd get a MX5 or a echo.

Not true.  I'm always looking back...  at the Ferrari red plenum chambers.   :D

And for that kind of money a Celica is probably your best bet if you want to avoid everything with 4 doors.

unless you buy something like an X19, and you'll always be looking in the back to fix what ever is wrong with it LOL

but in all seriousness, you say you dont want something Japanese, but seriously for the $ you're talking its probably the best way to go, so that you can get something reliable and cost effective. that will then set you on your path of saving money for something good later, much quicker than purchasing a GTV6 or something where you'll be hemoragining money like theres no tomorrow.

however, if you do want to go euro and spend around the $5k mark may i suggest

i love the SRi its a totally under rated car here in Aus, handles really well, quite spirited to drive and is not Japanese.

just a suggestion.
