Seems to be the epitome of redneck sport lol.

Out of curiosity, how is it that it seems easier to pull at the start and gets harder? Does the sand get softer or something? And if so,  how can they make sure that is consistent for every competitor?

Theres a weight that moves forward Looney as they go down the run.  I googled it.  True, I've never been.  I'm not a bogan.  Oh hang on.  Yes I am . :)

It's a big engine thing a bit like moster trucks but they have evolved.

Correct, weight moves toward the hitch towards the end of the pull.

First puller out does a run and dictates if more or less weight is necessary.
