For the last time hire before you buy.
Cheap enough for the cars you're looking at.

Last time I looked there was big issues with Prestige hire company's taking your deposit off credit card and not giving it back

I would have hired a number of cars but that put me right off!!

+1

A rental for a day will tell you much more than an escorted test drive around the block

Quick answer is yes.

Long answer is

987 is an overall improvement.  It feels tighter than the 986, the interior is overall a bit nicer. Some may say a little more bland to look at. But much nicer to feel and use.

It overall looks less girly (the series 1 anyway) than a 986 and supposedly the 05-08 cars have a lesser likelihood of IMS failure (I do stress supposedly).

In all seriousness when 981's get to about $50-60k they will be the ultimate buy. It's as much car as you ever need, they look good. Are (subjectively from an enthusiasts perspective anyway) better than the car that succeeded them and have lost a lot of the girly stigma.

The above reasons however make me think they will not drop in price as 986 and 987's have.

Thanks for the detailed answer...  I agree, interestingly I have looked at car rental and I can get into 981 for $550 a day but probably more like $800 with some km driving it.  If I could afford A 981, I would 100% do it next week but as Its not going to be in my price range for like 3-5 years as a few get some Km on them I cant see the point.

Interestingly I can hire a 911 987 Cabrio which is in the range of possibilities and I will look into that next month when the weather gets better.... I will report back !!!
