Especially considering the recent thefts, I'd be only be comfortable knowing my mechanic ISN'T posting photos of my car on the internet, potentially attracting the attention of thieves or other undesirables.

I don't think it's smart publicising the cars that are in a workshop when it's so easy to find out where that workshop is and when it's unattended. Of course, for the mechanic it's great self promotion.

Thoughts?

My car is at Lambo Melbourne for its first service. The service manager asked if I would mind if pics of the car appeared on their Facebook page. I said no problem. That's the way to do it - ask.

What about when the customer/mate walks in and takes pictures of other cars or bikes that are in the workshop and post on the net?

I remember a similar topic when we had a tow truck owner visit the site for a while.

I thought the same thing when I saw the car in question on facebook this week. In fact I thought the same thing last week when another expensive car was posted.

Then again I remember someone posting a pic of a GT Falcon and other cars on here from someone elses workshop.

People just seem to take pics of cars and post them online. Before the internet and camera phones this wasnt a problem. Now it can be.

I'm glad you brought that up. I was specifically asked by the owners of those cars to post the pics for reasons you don't need to worry about.....and good luck finding that workshop anyway !

I took my youngest to the Lambo showroom today, first time I had ever been there . Got talking to the salesman about Aventadors and SV's. Nope we can't get you an SV; but I can show you 2 out back;  but I can't allow you to take photos.
That's the way it should be handled and I was very impressed.

Saw Mark's SV and the new blue one just landed. They look fantastic
