The most disappointing new car I saw at the Goodwood Festival of Speed was the new MX5. Mazda had a big stand dedicated to it but I'm not sure why. For a car with a lot of pre-release press, it was underwhelming in the metal. Unlike the NA way back in 1989, it completely lacks the "want one" factor. Mazda makes the best looking cars in Japan. What happened?

I can't imagine the embarrassment of being seen in one.

Mazda has always been conservative with their delivery of cars.

their styling isn't too bad ( yet to see the next MX5) but always underpowered for such capable chassis
