Anybody else besides PP, MHH & I old enough to remember a driving world without ABS?  The fine art of cadence braking was as vital a skill as the heel and toe with a manual gear shift.

My first Lotus back in 2000. Brand new. No power steering. No electric windows. No air conditioning. No traction control. No ESP. No power assisted brakes. No ABS.

People thought I was mad.

Just awesome.

I've been driving the 928 recently - it's a 1984 model so definitely no ABS or any other modern computer aids.

Not really a huge deal, even in the wet - yes the brakes lock on full pressure but with practice it's not too hard to modulate.

I know. People make such a big deal about driving aids. Modern cars can't be driven without the aids turned on. What does that say about the chassis balance and overall calibration of the car? Look at all my supercars. Perfectly drivable without aids, you just need a bit of finesse.
You make something idiotproof, they'll make a better idiot.

Talking about old cars give me good fun memory.

My first car was a Ford Escort coupe 1300cc 4 speed 1976, I remember doing something like 70km in fourth gear and in those old car you could jam it back in first gear and lock the diffs to make it locking and screeching sound.

Being young and a fool I did not know I was going to burn the clutch, after a week of doing it I burn my crutch  ...lol.. those were the days.

Being 17 and cheap just bought the clutch plate only and not machining the flywheel or bough the pressure plate after a few month the car was written off anyway.

No ABS and nothing and after that I bought RS2000 those days were fun no speed camera as traffic was so much less.
