Looking to transport a car from Sydney to NT, meet it up there, drive it around, ship it back.

any goods ideas of best way to do this, and who you would recommend?

It's getting hot up there - are you planning to go now?

Do you require a covered transporter?  Will yours be the only car going? Do you want the driver to wait for you to finish the driving or will they need to come back later? 

If you want a covered truck and personalised service, I can recommend Alan Norton and Russell's Enclosed Car Carriers.  But you'll need to be ready to write a big cheque.

Not planning on going up just yet, but looking for options, and will be work dependent. Was a personal trip rather than a group (at the moment), and would probably want the driver to come back later.

If you're happy to go general cattle class with an unknown driver, our local transporters (Sydney metro area) recommend just using Ceva Logistics.  Their website has online quote facility, so its pretty easy cost ideas.

But the moment you want your own table top or enclosed truck, you're paying for the man and his truck, and his fuel, and his accommodation...  there and back...  not pretty!

However you can sometimes get lucky...  got a car coming from Melbourne today, and it just happened to tie in as a backhaul since the guy went down yesterday with a forklift, and would have been coming back only half full.

If you live in Melb you fly up (saves time) and drive the bastard back!
Mind you Porsche once modded the 911 engine for aircraft so anything's possible.

Drive it , take 2 days, don't think the cops aren't around they can spot you from a klm away coming in the opposite direction, lost 6 points on a return trip a couple of years ago.

The only reason I would truck it is because of stone chips, but what the hell it's there to be driven, would be a good way to kick off the relationship, call by my place on the way back
