The study pertains specifically to Porsche, but is likely quite relevant across all prestige marques.

Read the prices here, amazing stuff:

It's interesting in a "ripped off" sort of way. I remember looking at Cayman prices when the yanks were complaining that a top of the line, fully optioned car was going to be about US$70K. When I specced one here it was nearly $170K Australian.  thumbsdown

“I think the daily driver concept has something to do with keeping the sports car for "special occasions". I figure there aren't enough days left on the planet to be saving up for special occasions.” MHH

As far as the whacked out Denmark price goes, that is legitimate!

I've been googling and it seems Danes get taxed 180% of the car price to put a license plate on it!!!

Just google Denmark car taxes to look stuff up yourself and be amazed! sad

Mmm - Just checking the latest prices for 355's in the UK, and the current average price (nominal mileage) for a GTS is a round £37K.  And I know with some patience you can find some nice 'non wet weather' FFSH driven types. Sort of makes me want to go back and PI another one.  At that price I could have it on the road here for around Au$110,000.  Not too worried about the Oz resale value as I drive to enjoy, not import to profit.  happy

One year later, the prices of Porsche 977 GT2s... (links on the page linked in first post)

All prices in $AUD at the time based on XE.com exchange rate, format =
$THEN - Country - $NOW

$218k - US - $300k
$270k - Japan - $415k
$291k - UK - $275k
$299k - Switzerland - $395k
$316k - Germany - $374k
$319k - France - $377k
$320k - Italy - $378k
$347k - Brunei - $464k
$349k - Spain - $413k
$425k - Australia - $447k
$465k - China - $745k
$504k - Hong Kong - $747k
$594k - Malaysia - $719k
$920k - Denmark - $1.08m

Sadly I didn't record the price in the originating country so most of the prices reflect our flimsy dollar at the moment - take it how you will.
