I wonder if this was one of those auctions where two or more people decided they just had to have that car no matter what. The auctioneers love bidding wars where it comes down to pride and people have to show they have more money than the other person. They keep bidding no matter how stupid the price gets because its all about beating the other bidder, not the value of the car.
