Robert De Niro has confirmed he will be playing Enzo Ferrari in the upcoming film titled Ferrari.
Speaking to Italy's Il Messaggero, De Niro said "...it is an honor and a joy to tell the life of an extraordinary man who revolutionized the automotive world."  He went on to say "It's a story based on creativity, courage and [is] destined to thrill audiences of every country and every age."
While there have been a handful Enzo Ferrari movies being shopped around, this particular film will be based on Enzo Ferrari's autobiography called Ferrari 80.  Additional information is limited but the movie will reportedly have a big budget and cover Ferrari's life from the 1940's to his death in the 80's.
The film is slated to be released sometime next year and Clint Eastwood is reportedly "very interested" in directing.

I hope Eastwood is directing; but not sure about
Robert De Niro playing Enzo  :scratchchin:

And what is with starting the story in the 1940's?
Enzo's life pre-war was what shaped the man.

Are they going to use a lot of archival footage, make a ot of replicas or hope for some very generous loans of cars by collectors?
