This is what you get for shutting down coal and gas fired power stations and import electricity from interstate.

what has this blackout got to do with shuting down coal power? It's more to do with the national grid isn't it

SA has no grid it's buying power from interstate with one 30amp cable to connect it.

Guess we should be generating a shit ton of electricity with all the wind turbines. Oh wait the fucking things don't work in 105km/h winds. Glad we have solar that will solve it. Oh fuck. No sun.

Global warming. What a scam.

Its been a hell of a storm to take out the power lines but it shows how quick fix narrow minded politicians can fuck the supply chain up.

Could be other issues as well. Is it still down??

Lost network 2 hours after power outage. Didn't come back up until a half hour after power was turned back on. All up no coverage for just over 2 hours.

Something to think about when armageddon comes.

The calm before the storm. Took this pic just before it hit.

Good to see the highest electricity rates in the land are going to good use.

Bad storm, yes, but a whole state in a first-world country being brought to its knees is unacceptable.

Can't wait to see how Weatherill tries to spin his way out of this disaster.  Some people want him to stand down but that won't happen.  If Marshall and the Libs can't capitalise on this then their election chances in 18 months aren't looking good

Hats off to the SA Power Network staff, police and SES crews working in this weather
