I own an Amarok, Ranger Wildtrak, 2 x Nissan D40, a New Colorado and an older Rodeo and the pick of the bunch would be the Nissan when all considered. All our  cars are dual cab 4x4 diesel autos and the Amarok and Ranger are top of the range but the others are one from the top. All vehicles fitted with long range tanks, tow bars, nudge bars and lights and all have UHF radios fitted. Most have Lovells suspension kits fitted and all have after market Wheels n Tyres as thats what we do. The Amarok is brilliant but so expensive and not as good as the price difference. The Ranger and Colorado are rubbish and we wont be buying new ones. The wheel bases are short and the handling, no matter what suspension you put under them is rubbish. They have their good points but the overall impression is not good. The Nissans have been handed to various staff over three states and have done long distance cruising, 4wd club events, towing of race cars, and right now, there is one sitting outside my house as my Range Rover is getting dressed up at present with new Wheels n Tyres. They are not the best at everything, but they are so damn good at most and they have never had a spanner on them for anything other than normal servicing. They are roomy, comfortable and have great fuel economy considering their size and bulk. We will most certainly be replacing them with new Nissans when the time is right. The new 170Kw/550nm engine is the one to go for, we dont have it, but have driven it and it is great. Our cars all do around 65,000km per year so we have a lot of history to compare to decide what we like and what we dont. Rgds Grant

I agree and always have a Navara at home.

The 7 speed auto on the V6 diesel is a gem.

The RX Navara doesn't have baby seat anchor points in the rear IIRC. Insure they can be fitted however.

The RX use to have a lap belt only in the middle whereas the ST-X had lap sash.

Think they all have lap sash now but should check.

dont get the love in for Navaras all i hear about are engines lunching themselves at 60k-100kms and constant clutch rebuilds under load.................not to mention bent chassis rails.........

so your view is ignore well known issues and suck it and see?..........glad you got lucky.........2 people i know with navara's would trade places in an instant and be a 10k repair bill better off..........dyor & ymmv

I dont know what you're towing (sorry only got a few seconds on here).

but a mate has a Kia Sportage Diesel, for the money its a hard thing to beat. take a look and pocket the rest of the $$$ I say, especially if you're going to be carting dirt magnets around in it.

My view???

I run 3 tyre shops with mechanical facilities across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Hunter Valley and we see mostly SUV/4wd as per our regional locations. We also integrate with 4wd clubs and specialist groups such as mining companies and councils. We keep records across a range of vehicles in this category and whilst there has been a dilution of the strangle hold previously held by Hilux, the next biggest factor in the market has been market share creep by Nissan with the navara. We see less issues with the nissans than anything. The worst in our records is the Triton followed by ford/Mazda.
That's a fact jack! Sorry about your two mates, they are the exception rather than the rule, and I trawled our data base of 2247 vehicles in this category across three states that we have seen in 3 years to tell you this.
