I like it, but I'd still prefer a lightweight/cheaper version with a lighter battery and less range. I was told yesterday that the battery in the Tesla weighs 1500kg. anyone know if that's true?

Agreed. But budget small city cars will be the last market to be tapped IMO because they would have the smallest margins.

You sure that was not in pounds??? The 85kw battery weighs 1200lb so a bit over 500kg.

Doesn't the whole car weigh around 2100kg????

If the battery was 1500kg it doesn't leave much room for all the other stuff.    :p
