Righto. So maybe some basic numbers.

Land - say $500K for about 100 acres, far from anywhere in a place with a great, understanding council
Refurb road - say theres a 2km bit of road, that you need to resurface (2km is a very short track) - thats 2000 m x say 6 m width x $100/meter for bitumen - so 1.2 million - assuming no major issues needing major earthmoving.
Need some kind of building and amenities, let's be kind and say a shack for 300K.

We're up to 2 million and don't have a fence, staff, insurance or anything useful yet. The second we open, we're on a countdown to resurfacing and maintenance.
C'mon, do it!

Bob Jane sold tyres, doesnt mean he has a clue how to present a track to the petrol heads.

I'd love to drive the Masa there it doesnt matter a root if I'm good at it or not, you're missing the point I'd be free to gun it for once, and after paying a lot of money for it that would be real fun worth paying for.

You have to have the imagination and the balls to make something like this ework. perhaps we should BUY an existing track ?

ok, seriously, you need to be protected from unscrupulous race track salesmen/real estate rats.

If you want a damn good fang in the car, buy 100 acres in woopwoop and build a private road...

but DON'T think you could build a track with a modern budget, and make a profit this side of ~30 years

Great minds  :)

100 acres is actually on the small side. We had a great run at the private road outside of Sydney. As something one guy with a lot of drive did for kicks it is an amazing achievement. 5.5K's long, and it really could use being on 200 acres to reduce neighbour pains.
C'mon, do it!

Thats cheap, I reckon aside from the guys that have everything from a Porsche up or down there would be marketing opportunities galore, it's not the track it's who runs it.

It coiuld become a destination for those who have spent the bank on a car and just want to run the bastard.
