Import into NZ, pay the gst and nothing else.

Export back to Europe when ready, get the gst back.

Simples.

the biggest fucking first world problem I've read.

3 hour flight beats 24 hours, and plenty would ship their car over to join you.

A tassie trip on a larger but just as easy scale.

No chance to NZ then to Aus?

If you could, all sorts of other issues open up when it comes to Rego time........but even from NZ it's near impossible.

I can't see why special cars can't be exempt from these rules.

My interpretation is you would meet the requirements if you spent enough time living overseas to classify as an overseas resident. I think that is 6 months ?
Live in say Ireland with 15% tax rate, spend the 6 months holidaying
around the EU.  Then the other 6 months playing here with your 918  :scratchchin:

I won't go in to the full details as typing on my mobile is too painful.  But for a personal import you need to show 12 continuous months of living and driving it overseas plus evidence that you are coming back here to live, not just for a holiday.  They tightened this up about 5-6 years ago.

Don't need the 918 for NZ. I can take the RS. Who wants to come?
