Watching it on One HD - it's the synchronised swimming of motorsport. Or does someone here like it enough to explain it to the rest of us?

I don't get the spectator appeal really, but from a driver skill point it's actually a lot of fun.

You should go to a school and have a drift class... you WILL enjoy it.

But to answer the question....

Tyre sellers.

I can never work out whether it is the first past the post or is it based on artistic ability?

Not a drifter & don't like the scene at all but I will give it a go.....
The trailing car has to keep as close to the leading car for as long as possible or pass him to get maximum points on the 1st run. (the more the angle of the car & how much smoke the car puts out also accounts for good points)
On the second run, the trailing car (who was leading the 1st run) has to keep as close or closer to to the leading car or pass him earlier than the trailing car on the 1st run, to get maximum points (with out incident).
So in short, the closer the trailing car is to the leading car, the more points he/she accumulates & they both get a go at trailing :der: :scratchchin:

I did not understand what I wrote either but I tried :D

Waste of time, just like every other sport that is judged and not timed by a stop watch.

Just because it takes skill to do something, doesn't mean it should be turned into a "sport".

having photographed it quite a bit, i understand it pretty well. the americans (whats on oneHD) do it so much better than the aussies... but as usual, they take something small and supersize it.

And as a motorsport official, it takes 20 minutes to clean the track after they do a "demonstration" the amount of rubber that just peels of the bald tyres they use which then turn into spectator missiles, just creates us more work.
