A frind of mine owns a GT3RS 3.8 RHD that he bought in the UK. It now lives close to the Nurburgring for $80 a week. Registered in Germany, in spite of it being right hand drive. The warehouse it lives in is linked to the Nurburgring, and prepares race cars. He calls them to advise collection, they fuel it, service it, put tyres on it, etc, at minimal cost. He flies to Frankfurt, or somewhere else close, collects the car, and hoofs it around Europe and the UK. He bought the car 50/50 with another mate, and they split the costs. The car has gone up in value since it was bought, its been a typical Porsche to run (easy) despite being flogged to death each visit, and the guys are over the moon they did it. I wish he had asked me, and Im now looking to do something similar. It just makes sense if youve got the time, and the money, and the wish to see Europe a little differently.

Would any of you look at buying a Super car that does not comply to Australian ADR?

Say Bugatti Veyron or a Pagani,Ascari A10 or maybe a Maybach  Exelero?

On the basis that the rules might change and it could be brought in? Perhaps.

Ive been pondering what a "clever" buy would be. Any ideas? A Veyron would be a nightmare to maintain. Missed the Lamborghini boat. Keep coming back to Porsches because I know them. Maybe a big Ferrari?

Another mate has a 918 kept in Europe along with some other Porsches. That seems to work pretty well, but he is from there originally and splits his time.

I don't think you could go past a 599 or a 612.

The only issue over there is ,that I've experienced is that large cars are pain when traveling through rural towns and trying to park at say Hotel ,which is in a tight area.

My partner is a very well traveled person...over 25 trips to Europe, she always shook her head when I said ,i might take the E-type over for a rally...basic comment "great parking "

On a more serious note, I've always thought a porsche turbo, Audi R8 or maybe an Aston Martin of sorts would make for a perfect cross European chariot.
