So, I learned today that if you pass your test in an automatic gearbox car, you're only restricted to autos while you're on your P's....

http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Licences/OtherLicences/LicenceConditions.htm

What absolute fucking moron came up with that rule?????

Who says that after a couple of years driving an auto, you're all of a sudden ok in a manual.???

In a society that dictates that 103km/h in a 100km/h zone, regardless of weather and traffic conditions, is a sin punishable by banning and fining and public ridicule..., what #@%$ in authority decides this shit......

Arseholes.

Really, you only just found that out???

It's laughable that you can't drive a manual for those P plate years but once you are on a full license you automatically Know how to work the gears!!!!

Going off that logic, i've had my full car license now for 10 years so I'm pretty sure I can fly an Aircraft now.

Ha! Indeed!

And, seeing as I'm a qualified glider pilot, and have been since 1998, surely I can go and fly a powered aircraft by now too!!

It's such stupidity and blatant desk dwelling self serving civil servant idiots that ruin everything!

My daughter applied for an exemption with a stat dec from me saying the only car available for her to drive is the E500 Wagon.  They wrote back and said that she would need to say exactly what it was for - getting to school, to work, to sport etc.  I rang them and said she doesn't need it for any of these things but just wants it for going shopping, visiting friends,  and driving randomly in circles if she chooses to.  That's about when the conversation went downhill.  Bottom line is no exemption.  That sucks.  I bought the car years before their legislation and they aren't prepared to give an exemption for "convenience".

Sooo, what's the gruntiest Euro wagon (not an SUV) I can buy that does comply for P-platers, I wonder.  :mischief:

A 2011 Merc r350 cdi, 195kW of power and 620Nm of torque. Its a diesel so P platers can drive it. Also a Volkswagen r36 wagon and a Alfa 159 3.2l wagon are close to 200kw.
