Pleasant enought day today, so took the day off and went for a drive with the daughter in tow up to Mt Lofty for a coffee.  All went well until I hopped back into the car at the Summit carpark to discover that the remote wouldn't disable the alarm.  Well that's odd - never happened before, also running through my mind was the thought that the Lotus had never broken down in the 9 years of ownership, so felt positive knowing that it would just be a minor glitch.

... Anyway some 5 hours later we made it home on the low loader.

Interesting story was that the RAA guy said they get call outs almost every day from that carpark with cars unable to start.  The transmission towers cause havoc with the electronics, and even as we were relocating the car to another part of the car park albeit another 50 metres from the towers - didn't help, another guy came up and said that his car wouldn't start either.

Arrived home and remote worked fine - car started first time.  Weird... :scratchchin:

Warning - Weird random guy at the back checking us out

RAA Man arrives - Yep she's f*cked - can't fix that.

... And down again.

Car's back in one piece back in the garage. 5 hour trip and a total cost of $15 to the tow truck driver.  Fun cheap day really.

$15 tow, friend of yours?
Also, good info, I park mine there every now and then, whilst its probably a different alarm, if I ever have that problem I wont even try the whole resynching battery change procedure

very good info, I never would have thought that the towers would play havoc with the cars electronics.  I should probably take the kingswood if I'm gonna park there, might be slow on the way up but it'll get back on it's own steam

Drove past you on Cross Rd today, your Lotus looked sensational despite being on the back of a truck

RAA paid for the first 20kms and I had to pay the extra 3 or so k's down to the Bay - pittance really.

Yes - I did look at the car when it was on the loader and it certainly looks good for a 17 year old jalopy.

Happened to me with the M5. Managed to unlock it by pressing the controller whilst I held it in the wheel well. Putting the controller 'within' the metal enclosure of car worked because I suspect the car body acted like a shield against the radio interference from the Mt Lofty tower.

Ya don't want to know!!!!   :scared:

At least it wasn't the Esprit's fault, so that's still 9 years fault free driving in theory!!!
