No you can't as they round down the detected speed by a massive 3km/h to "account" for so called tolerances.
Anybody with 2 brain cells to rub together knows that a slight change in tyre diameter upon replacement can create larger errors in the cars speedo reading.

I guess it's been tested but I couldn't imagine having a hard day in court getting out of that.
I kph is wasting everyone's time..........

Ok it's rounded down but at very least it's blatant revenue raising

If everyone simply refused to pay ... and forced a court hearing ... the entire system would crumble overnight!

1kph is totally ruthless ... I would pursue them for wasting your tax payers money.

And quite frankly ... even 53kph is just ridiculous.

I'm sure a good lawyer would have you off before you even blinked

Actually, no they wouldn't.
The Judge has no discretion on the matter unless you can prove that there was a fault in the equipment or procedure.
Its entirely about the revenue and has SFA to do with safety.

Doesn't matter if you can prove it or not unfortunately. People have already tried.

It's not the cash, it's the points and the 3 years until you get them back.

I had my front plates nicked from the murci one night (double sided tape), Found the plate but CBF re-attaching it and got pulled over by highway the next morning heading home.  Slapped me with $450 and 3 points...

Such an angry man.

I asked when he was free for the court appearance.

Made him angrier.

It's definitely worth it. I went to court, once for a red light camera and once for speed. I claimed extenuating circumstances. Both times the magistrate fined me at a level that matched the expiation fee and awarded NO POINTS.
