A fantastic day's driving - sunshine all the way. Pretty much a usual Day 1 - about 650km I guess. More traffic than November but just about every car pulled over to let me pass.
No issues today but I did get a bee sting at the servo when I filled with petrol. The only thing wrong with the Mac in Tassie is the fuel tank. It read low arriving in Hobart but didn't say remaining km, so I assumed it was almost empty. But I could only get 60 litres into the tank. Not sure how big the tank is.
Is it better than the 458 in Tassie? I think so. More go, better ride and steering, better seats for me, smaller feel on the road. I'm not game to wring it out fully in case I overcook it. The Ferrari looks better, sounds better, had a crisper gearshift and more room for stuff in the cabin. (This latter point is important for touring). The Mac feels like its engine is mounted lower than the 458's - which gives more mid-corner confidence. The roof gives a choice of loud and wind in hair, loud with roof up and back window down, or quietish with everything up. I tried a bit of everything today but driving in the morning fog with the roof down and all the countryside smells this morning was glorious. And Hellyer.....
Coming into Hobart, I took the shortcut where 360C cut a tyre. Very gingerly.
