A friend was talking about doing a Transylvania motorbike tour on facebook today so I did a little googling on it. This could make a great car tour or bike tour for AE in the future. The roads look a little more car friendly than The Stelvio Pass.

How does this drive compare to other great roads? "We were wrong, this is better than the Stelvio, this is the best road in the world!" Jeremy Clarkson - Top Gear. This amazing road called the Transfagarasan highway passes over the Fagaras mountains in Transylvania, Romania at 2000 metres. It was on this road with endless curves and sheer drops that I decided to invite Jeremy Clarkson and the Top Gear team to Romania.

I just watched a 26 minute video on that highway (link below) and it looks pretty good. It reminded me a lot of the Adelaide hills but not quite as good. We probably forget how spoiled we are in Adelaide. I think we could line up a tour for Clarkson and co in the Adelaide Hills where they dont really have to speed, just have a spirited drive and by the end of the day they would call the Adelaide Hills the best driving roads in the world. We have everything here in the hills, long quiet straight stretches, nice tourist towns and locations to stop at, excellent winding roads and very little traffic.

Then I remembered Tasmania. :)
