The braking point is the finish line at the end of the 1000m run

Can you pencil in a Koenigsegg?  Not for me - just for a friend. :p

Wait... What?

Btw, what's the required braking distance from top speed at 1000m?

We wouldn't do this event with less than 700m sealed braking area. Most entrants doing under 250km/h can almost roll to a stop. the guys doing the high 200's to 330's are on the brakes, but not that much. We really do not want people having to destroy their rotors through hard, cold braking in 450-500m. We sweep and clean the runway to within an inch of it's life, so the "stone chip" issue we had in 2012 no longer exists, however, it is still a regional airport, and massive applications on old brakes in 450-500m is never good, and plenty of people have spun out at other events

Fair enough! :-)

You could add an extra dimension to the 1000m run ... shortest braking distance from 1000m to a standstill.  That would be interesting to see who can get to 1000m fastest and then brake quickest.

Not a bad idea... Logistics are horrible though

Maybe as simple as using chalk or a spray paint to mark the front wheels where they stop with the Reg number, just station somebody about 300m past the 1000m mark!

Maybe just do it for the second or middle segment for a couple of hours instead of all day!

Very few of us probably use the brakes that angrily on the road, so would be good to know how well their car brakes in a safe environment.

Could be good fun!

Cheers for the suggestion. Will have a good think about it and see if there MAY be some way we can work it in.
