Hey Guys,

I was looking at an old list of Classic Adelaide entrants and noticed there were some serious Ferrari's entered.

Does anyone know if they would have had to install roll cages to race?

TT class = no cage.  Just helmets and extinguishers.

Thoroughbred Tour - untimed, no comprehensive tour-lips, IIRC speed limit of "130km/h" though not many heed it.

If I'm not mistaken, one of the years was a Ferrari celebration year hence loads of Ferraris including guests and VIPs from HK, UK etc.

Forgiveness is easier to achieve than permission!

Thoroughbred Touring was a non-competitive category which allowed 130km/h maximum.  It sat between Touring (speed limit only) and Competition classes.  I did it 4 times (twice in M5 and twice in Carrera S).  No roll bar and you could effectively go as hard as you liked.  However, I got a $750 fine one year after being lasered at over 150km/h on Gorge Road. :o

In the stage. I was detected by a rally official, not the police. We were very careful on transport stages.

Wow, that's surprising that they pinged you in the stage.

Do they still do that style of 130kph schedule?

They could only get drivers in the stage - no jurisdiction outside the stages. They had to find a way to slow drivers down and I was silly enough to ignore their warnings. Another driver was fined $1000.

TT is no longer but Regularity allows the same speed (without cage). Check the Targa website for details as I'm sketchy on it.
