Well the BMW M coupe got its shakedown run at the track yesterday, but that wasn't the most exciting bit, was it Al?!?

It's amazing how even the slightest incline in the grass beside a race track can paralyse a car after lots of rain.   :teehee:

Anyways, suffice to say it was quite a wet and greasy day on the track, but it did dry throughout the afternoon to at least give a dry race line.

Photos following soon...

With Porsches generally being really popular on these track days, I'm used to overtaking several every session...  this time with the weather it was me driving like a girl in the rear drive BMW, and the Evos and WRXs shone.

But when it dried out, the M coupe really shone.  Such a brilliantly balanced car, with heaps of grunt.  Great buy Al!

I got a few instructors behind the wheel of it to help me sort what should be tweaked with the suspension.  This included one of them (Renato Loberto) taking it for a few laps without me weighing it down in the passenger seat so I could also get some pics.

I've seen smoke coming from a Ferrari wheel arch - flames even.  But never mud like that.

If the weather had been warmer I would have made some arrangements.

the rear tyres are pathetically under sized on that 360.

that probably explains it. Terminal high speed understeer due to lack of proper chassis rake. Centre of pressure too far rearwards... traction control and EBD not working correctly as tyre mismatch....

nothing anyone could have done...

except maybe Mark Webber :tilt:

surely couldn't have been bad driving???  :mischief:
